Dynamic Reactive Assignment of Tasks in Real-Time Automated Guided Vehicle Environments with Potential Interruptions

An efficient management of production plants has to consider several external and internal factors, such as potential interruptions the ongoing processes. Automated guided vehicles (AGVs) are becoming a widespread technology that offers many advantages. These AGVs can perform complex tasks in an autonomous way. However, inefficient schedule assigned AGV suffer from unwanted idle times, which turn will affect total time required by complete its tasks. In order avoid these issues, this paper proposes heuristic-based approach that: (i) makes use delay matrix estimate circuit delays for different daily times; (ii) employs estimates define initial itinerary AGV; (iii) dynamically adjusts agenda new information on actual is obtained system. The objective minimize all tasks, taking into account situations generate unexpected disruptions along circuits follows. test validate proposed approach, series computational experiments utilizing real-life data carried out. allow us measure improvement gap with respect former policy used system managers.
